Mattel's Trademark Products & Their Origin

Whenever you happen to see a Barbie doll you would inevitably associate it with Mattel who happen to be the owner and manufacturer of the product. We know well about Barbie but most of us would not be aware of Mattel's origin what lead it to start making and selling the world famous Barbie doll products.

On the basis of revenue, this company is the biggest toy making company across the globe. And all of its products including toys like Barbie dolls, Hot Wheels, board games, Matchbox cars are of supreme quality, they also ventured into attempting to make video game consoles at the start of 1980's.

Now wouldn't we all like to know the story behind this highly rated company deciding on its trademark name? It happened to be derived from the founder member names of 'Harold "Matt" Anderson & Elliot Handler'. The middle name Matt and the first name Elliot were put together and thus was created the Mattel trademark name. It was Elliot Handler's wife, Mrs. Ruth Handler, who introduced the Barbie merchandise line when she took over the company's president post that has proved to be an unbeatable product from the manufacturer's stable. As a matter of fact Barbie Dolls contribute towards eighty percent of Mattel's profits.

When Mattel started out production it manufactured picture frames & dollhouse accessories. It received good success from the business's dollhouse lines, thereafter the concentration shifted towards toys & in 1960 the company went public. It then made acquisitions of smaller toy companies and in 1966 an undersized maker of plastic lunchboxes of low grade came under its wings.

This gave Mattel access to making plastic toys and they introduced a range of parts for their toy cars, which enabled their toy car line to function much more smoothly. This gave birth to Hot Wheels, a toy car of an innovative line. And Hot Wheels are just as famous today.

In the year 1987, Mattel set out with the distribution of the Nintendo Entertainment System in European nations. At that time Nintendo weren't having an operational European office thus the earlier types of NES were termed as Mattel version. Then with the passage of time Nintendo started is operations in Europe and began NES distribution.

Mattel had the rights to sell NES goods in Canada. But due to a court ruling, it was declared that in the entire area of North America the complete NES line would be solely distributed by Nintendo & Mattel was removed from the co-branding process.

In the year 1993, Mattel merged itself with another famous toy making company named Fisher-Price & bought the brand Tyco Toys that happened to be the world's 3rd largest then. Now, as it came to be that all toys produced from the company that Mattel had purchased too bared the Mattel trademark.

For a large number of people Mattel symbolizes superb product quality that will have all the kids glued to and would last for a long time, while all most all their products come with an indication for age category and are not harmful if a part is taken into the child's mouth. The basis for the long lasting of its products is that their products are embedded with the latest technology, and are generally the best that could be found in the market. One thing that is common for all Mattel's toys is that all of them are well designed and manufactured as per high standards which have kids of all ages attracted to their toys.

Thus if you are looking for a brand of product whose trademark exemplifies quality and high standard of durability then look no further than Mattel products. Each of the products from the stable of the Mattel toy company shall be carrying the trademark of Mattel thus showing that Mattel has made the particular toy in your hand and helps to differentiate it from the rest of the league of toy markers.

By now it must be more that just evident that Mattel is a quality toy manufacturer whose products provide wholesome entertainment to kids of all age groups and all of the toys follow high safety standard for the kids.
